U.S. Congressmen†Gene Green†stopped by the Houston offices of†Carpenters Local 551†recently to talk shop with Council leaders. Green, a native of Houston, represents the 29th Congressional District in Texas.
He met with Local 551 Representatives Kenneth Fontenot (pictured on the left) and Terry Darling (pictured, on the right), and also with†Central South Carpenters Regional Council†Political Director Gary Warren (by phone). The gentlemen discussed issues important to local working families, and the Councilís Carpenters Legislative Improvement Committee.
Congressman Green has served as a Congressman since 1992, following 20 years as a state legislator. He is a member of the powerful U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee, the Ranking Member for the Subcommittee on Health, the Subcommittee on Energy, Subcommittee on Environment, and the Subcommittee on Digital Commerce and Consumer Protection.
Rep. Green has been a champion of health issues, energy, education, labor, domestic manufacturing, and preserving Social Security and veterans benefits. He has worked hard to improve access to quality health care, support initiatives to improve our economy and job training, and maintain financial aid for students.
