Military Vets Program Creates New Union Millwrights

Congratulations to three military veterans who took advantage of an exclusive training program at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, designed to transform their military skills into the foundation of a career in union construction.

Meredith G. Palmer, Jared Soto, and Patric Covarrubias recently graduated from the the UBC’s award-winning Military Veterans Program, presented by the Mid-South Carpenters Training Trust Fund (MSCTTF)

The Military Veterans Program helps soldiers transition out of the U.S. Army and into careers as carpenters or millwrights. Program participants take part in a free, eight-week training program and learn the basic skill set of a first-year apprentice, using hands-on projects in real-world conditions. Once civilians, these veterans become members of a UBC Local Union as a second-year apprentice and get to work!
