Military Veterans Program Graduates Its First Class

Carpenter graduate Ricardo Gonzalez made a beautiful plaque to commemorate this milestone graduation event

Nine soldiers from Fort Campbell, Kentucky now have the skills to excel in civilian careers as a professional carpenter or millwright!  The nine men were the first class from Fort Campbell to experience the UBC’s award-winning Military Veterans Program, presented by the Mid-South Carpenters Training Trust Fund (MSCTTF).

The Military Veterans Program helps soldiers transition out of the U.S. Army and into careers as carpenters or millwrights. Program participants take part in a free, eight-week training program and learn the basic skill set of a first-year apprentice, using hands-on projects in real-world conditions. Once civilians, these veterans become members of a UBC Local Union as a second-year apprentice and get to work!

Of the nine soldiers, six trained to be millwrights and three trained to be interior systems carpenters. They are listed in the photo caption.

Thanks to DeWalt, Universal Plant Services, and Alltech Engineering for helping to celebrate and support this first graduation class. Also, a big thanks to MVP carpenter graduate Ricardo Gonzalez, who made a beautiful plaque to commemorate this milestone graduation event.
