Potential to increase market share and increase membership is there for the taking in Austin, Texas. Central South Carpenters’ Local 1266, which services the greater Austin area, is at the hub of leveraging all we can out of that potential so that the maximum number of union carpenters are working.
At the recent Local 1266 union meeting, UBC Southern District VP Dennis Donahou and Central South Carpenters’ EST Jason Engels attended and talked with the membership about the incredible opportunities that exist in the Austin area. They then outlined strategies in place to capture this growth potential.
Mr. Donahou and Mr. Engels were joined at the meeting by a host of UBC leaders who are in Austin to assist in the efforts of Central South Reps Sean Forkner, Francisco Marquez, Beau Serpas and Albino Balderas. They are: International Rep Miguel Avitia; Southwest Regional Council Reps Ubaldo Vasquez and Gustavo Maldonado; Florida Council Rep George Hudson; Southeastern Regional Council Rep Rigoberto Davila; and Southern States Millwright Council Chief of Staff Rick Halford and Council Rep Victor Sanchez. Coordinating this effort is Central South’s Austin Area Manager Alex Ornelas, with help from Central South’s Chief of Staff Craig Wright.
“We are humbled by the amount of support our union brothers from around the country are providing,” said EST Engels. “It’s a testament to the amount of potential that exists here in Austin, and our commitment to capture as much of it as possible. We are on a mission and we will accomplish our goals of increased marketshare and increased membership.”
